Deck Tech – Switchman Andromeda

Hi all

I’d like to go through one of my absolute favorite Runner decks, and one that I’ve been working on for quite a while now. The idea is to use the normal Criminal pressure, but utilising Switchblade and Atman to plug some of the weaknesses – particularly against Replicating Perfection.

At the moment Stealth Andy is an increasingly big deal, running Refractor and Cloak with Corroder and Faeries as a breaker suite. This is mostly due to the rise of RP and especially Lotus Field hitting Yog extremely hard, and forcing Criminals to search for an alternative. Switchblade is just a devastating card which completely invalidates huge chunks of corporate ICE and Andromeda helps us get the pieces early.

As good as Cloak/Refractor is, I really think that Datasucker is just too good to ignore. Importantly, it enables the use of Switchblade with only a single stealth source on the table, which is a huge deal. It also allows us to run Yog.0, which I still find to be the most efficient Code Gate breaker around. The initial version of this deck was only running stealth support without Datasuckers, but the second I put them in this deck kicked up a gear. I would absolutely recommend it over Cloak.

Atman was a later addition to the deck as I was struggling both with Lotus Field and Power Shutdowns on Corroder. Apart from the general Atman efficiency, people just don’t expect to see it out of Criminal and that can lead them to place ICE in a way that benefits you. I’ve found it to be a fantastic addition with tremendous versatility.

The rest of this deck is all pretty standard Criminal stuff, with Bank Job for asset economy. Earthrise Hotel is a phenomenal card and I’m always happy to check into the Hotel for some free draws to keep the pressure on.

Desperado + money (ideally long term) in opening hand is always good. Against RP/PE mulligan for a stealth enabler or Faerie ASAP to start facechecking, against Blue Sun go for Plascrete, against NEH look for Sec Testing and breakers.

This deck eats up RP and has decent pressure against NEH with 3 R&D Interfaces. So far I’ve found the worst matchup to be Blue Sun, although that may be down to piloting – Atman could do well here and Breach is pretty good against their barriers too if I could find a slot. In general it’s extremely fun to run and definitely one of the strongest Runner decks I’ve put together. Feedback welcome!

    looks real good!
i’ve really enjoyed a 2-2 passport-faerie split. It’s helps take a little of the pressure off atman and lets you install really aggressively.
