Hello everyone and welcome to the SanSan Awards, presented by the Near-Earth Hub Broadcast Center in partnership with Fisk Investments! In an exclusive deal with NBN only, joining us tonight is the mysterious net celebrity everyone’s talking about. Please welcome…Apex!

I HUNGER

For awards, I know! Thanks Apex!

THE “NAPD” AWARD FOR BEST AGENDA: Oaktown Renovation! This was a hard one, as our own Explode-a-Palooza is breaking box office records. But the tempo gains in Oaktown are too strong. Apex?

RENOVATIONS WILL MEAN NOTHING SOON

THE “ELI 1.0” AWARD FOR BEST ICE: Crick. What kind of cost-to-strength ratio even is that?

THE “D4V1D” AWARD FOR “THE TAX, IT MEANS NOTHING”: Faust. Want to take this one, Apex?

FEED YOURSELVES TO THE NET, MEATBAGS. THE EFFICIENCY IS UNMATCHED.

Haha! I love this mysterious net celebrity!

THE “ACCELERATED DIAGNOSTICS” AWARD FOR MOST POTENTIAL FOR SHENANIGANS: Team Sponsorship. Those bioroid football players sure put some work in! Promoting PAD Campaigns on their jerseys really brings them out of the bin and into the public eye.

THAT MAKES LITTLE SENSE

Right you are, Apex.

THE “WOMAN IN THE RED DRESS” AWARD FOR MOST LIKELY TO BE ANALYSED ON BEST-CASE SCENARIOS: Turntable. Sure, sometimes you’ll take that Astroscript or Nisei, but what is this doing for you against HB? 2 cost Memchip, that’s what.

INEFFICIENCY IS INTOLERABLEYOU ARE POINTLESS.

Get a real job, hippie.
Get a real job, hippie.

THE “CAPRICE NISEI” AWARD FOR KILLING NETRUNNER, FOR REALSIES: Jointly held by Marcus Batty and Clot. Pretty impressive that both sides managed to pull this off in one cycle, and the game is totally fine!

HYSTERIA IS ILLOGICAL BUT EXPECTED. ANGER WEAKENS RESISTANCE. HUNTING CONTINUES

BEST NAME: HYPERRRRRRDRIVERRRRRRR

YES

THE “GOVERNMENT TAKEOVER” FOR CARD I LOVE BUT CAN NEVER QUITE JUSTIFY: Comet. Some weird consoles hitting the market lately, isn’t that right Apex? Its worst case is just so bad.

I KNOW ONLY THE HEARTBEAT OF FORGOTTEN SERVERS

“DAY JOB” AWARD FOR BEST ART: Pachinko on Corp side, Synthetic Blood on Runner. Good job, little guy!

pachinkoblood

“ALT-ART POP-UP” AWARD FOR WEIRDEST ART: Little Engine. Gotta say, not sure what the marketing guys were thinking on that one.

choochoo
CHOO CHOO MOTHERFUCKERS. I’M WATCHING YOU SLEEP.

“MENTAL HEALTH CLINIC” AWARD FOR BEST THEME IMPLICATIONS: Drug Dealer is in Old Hollywood, not The Underway

Time for the big ones! Our picks for the best, most impactful cards of the SanSan Cycle. Although this set hasn’t shown us anything as ubiquitous as Jackson Howard or NAPD Contracts, here’s what we think has made the biggest impact and will be likely to show up in many, many decks to come.

BEST RUNNER CARD: FAUST!

BLp8L6T

Apart from the Noise-pocalypse generated by Faust, it’s amazing how much of an impact this card has made. You’ll find it in every faction. It provides aggressive runners a boost by letting them fire off impactful events when poor, and lets you get into servers when you absolutely have to and don’t care about the consequences. Paired with a solid draw engine like Wyldside or Drug Dealer, Faust is a force to be reckoned with and will be impacting the metagame for plenty of time to come.

BEST CORP CARD: TEAM SPONSORSHIP!

08110

Another card where the power level isn’t apparent at first sight, but with a skilled pilot becomes absolutely devastating. Free, clickless recursion of assets, upgrades and Parasited ice is amazing by itself, but it can also be used to score aggressively fast. The best use is rarely obvious and using it effectively requires strong knowledge of your plan, your deck and your opponent’s capabilities. This fits into pretty much every Corp deck right now at a meager 1 influence.

Thanks for tuning in! NBN has some big releases on the horizon, and we trust you’ll be watching. How about you, Apex?

Inspiring stuff! See you next time.
